October lunch

September's meal

Twenty five gourmets met up at the Walhampton Arms for an excellent meal. The carvery was served by a genial host and we returned to our well laid out tables in a very pleasant large dining hall.

August Meeting

Torrential rain swept the roads as we drove to the Red Rover in Wellow for our monthly lunch. After spending the morning practising having a meal in a French Restaurant some of us had worked up an appetite. The meals were mainly served quickly and were excellent value. £9 for two people and the plate size just right for the less demanding.

July at the Gamekeeper

Lovely day for a lunch at Woodlands warm enough to leave the doors open in the cosy extension just big enough for all of us. Nice meal prompt service.

June at the Hobbler

Continuous rain stopped the planned El fresco lunch but the eighteen of us a smaller number than usual due to holidays etc enjoyed the cosiness of the rather snug dining room with high backed chairs. Everyone agreed the lunch was excellent.
Next month Pat & Brian are arranging the venue for the lunch.

6th May lunch at the Swan

Disappointing turnout for the meal only 20 when 30 said that they would go. It was a nice venue overlooking the river Itchen. We had the large wooden roofed conservatory to ourselves. The carvery was excellent and of course very prompt as it was self service. Those who ordered a meal had to wait quite some time and had mixed feelings over the quality.

A lovely sunny day in Hythe's Fountain Inn restaurant well named for its large fountain. Must have been an impressive building at one time with large rooms, its high ceilings and pillars. We had the conservatory to ourselves and the catering was prompt and everybody seemed pleased with the food.
